Helping to deliver sustainable housing

Specialist heating and plumbing company, PH Jones is proud to be the heating and plumbing contractor for the innovative and sustainable BoKlok homes development in Gateshead.

Known as the ‘flat-packed’ homes project, BoKlok, (pronounced “boo-clook”) is hailed as the answer to affordable and sustainable housing. The houses, which will be sold at an IKEA store, are aimed at people on incomes of between £12,500 and £30,000, and the construction is state-of-the-art, Scandinavian-style timber framed properties, which have been shipped over from Sweden and assembled in Gateshead.

Chris Jones, Director of the New Build Division, who is managing the heating and plumbing project commented, “We are happy to be involved in this innovative development and we are certain this will have a major impact on the way housing is constructed in the general housing market in the future.”

“We are completing the final stage of this development which has taken almost 18 months planning in which time we have been involved in mock heating and plumbing installations in the assembly factory, ironing out any design faults and discussing design changes to speed up installation. Encouragingly last month eighteen apartments in three blocks were erected in just eight days which means the majority of the development should be complete for Christmas.”

“These homes should prove popular, and we look forward to seeing the project develop to other areas of the country,” added Chris.
