Be Safe Be Seen
Specialist heating contractor PH Jones Ltd supports ‘Bus Walking’ initiative by promoting safety
PH Jones Ltd, in partnership with Twin Valley Homes has highlighted the risks to children walking to school by issuing them with high visibility vests. Pupils at the Crazy Crackers Pre-School / After School Club at Roe Lee have what they call a walking bus, which means they are supervised as they walk to school, with a ‘driver’ at the front of the line and a ‘conductor’ at the rear.
PH Jones’ property maintenance engineers are working in Twin Valley Homes properties at the Roe Lee Estate in Blackburn, installing new central heating systems and bathrooms, and have been concerned for the safety of children as they walk to school. Director Derek Corbishley said: “It’s great to see children getting the exercise they need by walking to school, bringing less congestion outside the school gates, but they do face hidden dangers as they make their way. We felt this was a small gesture with a much needed benefit, actively demonstrating to children that they need to be seen in order to be safe”.
Environmental sustainability
Using cars for short journeys such as school runs is a cause for debate – both in the increase of carbon emissions and in the lack of exercise for children. Conscious of environmental sustainability, PH Jones Ltd has developed initiatives which reduce energy consumption, installing energy efficient boilers, advising residents on energy saving tips and providing alternative energy source heating systems, such as ground source heat pumps.
PH Jones are working with Twin Valley Homes, the largest provider of housing in Blackburn and Darwen to ensure homes are maintained to a high standard.
