PH Jones Ltd installs air source heat pumps for Yorkshire Coast Homes in partner
Specialist renewable heating contractor PH Jones Ltd is installing 50 air source heat pumps into homes in rural parts of North Yorkshire. The properties are owned by Yorkshire Coast Homes, and the project is a joint venture with Community Energy Solutions. The properties required new central heating systems, but due to their remote locations, there is no gas supply, and they previously used solid fuel for heating. They will be upgraded with renewable technology, which will also help to reduce their carbon footprints.
Air source heat pumps work by converting the energy of the outside air into heat; creating a comfortable temperature inside the house as well as supplying heat for the hot water system. The principle is similar to that of refrigeration, but in reverse to produce heated water which is circulated around radiators. A unit is fixed to an outside wall of each house and requires little or no maintenance, making them cost effective for both the landlord and tenant.
PH Jones Ltd is investing in the renewable energy sector, and has installed ground source heat pumps, and solar heating to properties in England and Wales. Demand for sustainable energy with low emissions is growing, and homeowners and social landlords alike are beginning to research their options to maximise energy efficiency.
This initiative is being project managed by Lynne Ellis, of Community Energy Solutions (CES) which is a non profit community interest company set up by the Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR). Landlords involved with ‘off gas’ projects and interested in working with CES, should call Lynne Ellis on 07918 733730.
